Because most of them are stupid and didn't have to work hard for that money. They probably love cheap labor and love letting in illegals and bowing down to China. When you see your tax dollars going to house illegals in hotels in NYC it doesn't make you want to pay more taxes.

I am a coastal elite. Why do I vote democrat:

1. I understand what the debt ceiling is and that Republicans using it as a bargaining chip is effectively pointing a gun to the head of the economy instead of negotiating in good faith. When the republicans did that under Obama I permanently shifted toward the democrats.

2. A large portion of the republican base are religious zealots who want to break down the barrier between church and state. Those people scare me more than the nuts on the left.

3. Throughout my life, the economy has generally performed better under democrats.

4. W's decision to enter Iraq was the dumbest decision by a president in my lifetime. Many democrats stupidly supported it, but they were not the impetus behind that horrible mistake.

5. Trump and trumpists do not support the democratic process when they lose. This is a potentially republic-ending flaw on the right.

6. Republicans post-George H.W. Bush do not actually care about fiscal responsibility.

No they didn't. Are you forgetting who was president when everything shut down? Hint, it was March 2020. The election was in November 2020. Biden got the vaccines out to the masses by April 2021. Things generally reopened thereafter, though many PRIVATE businesses continued to work remotely given Zoom and other online tools.

Are you saying it is ok to expose every child in America to a virus that was unknown at the time and in hindsight is causing significant health issues (ie longcovid) to a large percentage of kids and adults in this country?
