Planet 6th grader girls who tell their parents more about the admins efforts against the issues than about the issues themselves. Sorry for being out-of-touch with other families' experience, but it is a useful perspective for those trying to get the full picture. |
Hopefully this closes that topic. |
You can't open the link without a dcps account. Do those recommendations take facilities into account? There isn't inconsistency in saying the facilities don't permit many sports on-site and floating "yeah we'll have them do golf somewhere'. Do ward 3 families care about cheer? |

I posted the link. I pulled it from the DCPS School Planning blog, so it should be accessible to all.
I honestly don't know if all of those sports will be included. They were recommended for year 1. If I recall, I and others suggested de-prioritizing some of them. But my memory is not particularly sharp on that point. At this point, I think the most reliable expectation for sports for Year 1 is Basketball, Track, Cross Country, Soccer, Volleyball and, maybe, Tennis. |

According to twitter there's an open house this Saturday at 10am. I imagine they should be able to clarify the sports question there...Also saw the new principal was gonna be at Hardy PTO next week.

I'm sorry this already debunked conspiracy theory is cracking me up. Principal McCray is doing a bunch of events this month...why would he go to an anonymous forum and not actually provide clarity? Also, principals work like 60 + hours a week. The idea that they would spend time on here engaging with a bunch of anonymous complaints and critiques is unhinged. |

I don’t care what administration is doing because it’s damn obvious that they don’t have anything under control. You are the only one in here who seems to think that while the overwhelming majority does not. Why don’t you tell us exactly what administration is doing if your 6th grader knows so much. |
So where exactly are the facilities for these sports to hold practice and compete against other schools? Who is going to coach these teams? How are you going to fully field teams and get enough interest in many sports with only 200 kids? Of these kids, a decent portion who likely play no sports at all. |
Was your own child hurt? You sound really upset. Your two paragraphs start with opposite contradicting statements. |
dp: You can't be serious! "Was you own child hurt?"! We all understand that one of the things that can cause a child to be troubled and struggle in life is coming from a home with poorly managed conflict. But what is somehow bad for kids at home is okay for kids at school? A kid doesn't have to be hurt -- even involved -- to find fighting stressful. |
+100. PP still hasn’t told us what amazing things admin is doing that her 6th grader seems to know all about that makes her think they are on top of this. |

People need to stop feeding this troll. She obviously has a particular issue with Hardy that is unrelated to the topic of this thread.
The answer to the question is no, people aren’t leaving Hardy because of the new high school. FIN |
Currently Hardy soccer practices at jelleff and plays games on other fields and has a volunteer coach (college student at least for girls team)… so while that stinks …. There have been work arounds. But that said the football situation at Hardy was a disaster and had an actual administrator violating all sorts of things (faking forms and birthdays etc) and the team dissolved. But the gds lower field and gym might not be regulation but sufficient for at least practices - so that’s better than Hardy situation already. |

I attended an open house and a basketball game at Hardy last night. Didn’t seem like the school people are describing here, the kids at the OH were super positive. Of course I realize I wasn’t there during school hours or anything.
I did ask about some of the issues mentioned here and got denials. |
