Are in boundary families leaving Hardy because if MacArthur?

Is there a mass exodus from DCPS of in boundary upper elem and MS kids bc of MacArthur? Are most parents that can affording going to private schools or is it less dire than I’ve heard?

What?

Nope. We have a child in 5th at a Hardy feeder and planning on Hardy and MacArthur. There is some concern over uncertainty, but also excitement at the potential for the new, smaller school with very strong feeders.

Is this a joke? I'd move IN-bounds from AU Park just to send my kid to a small high school with universally strong feeders.

Yes.

Most parents at our feeder elementary are thrilled about it. Not sure who you’re speaking to!

Will it have the same course offerings as Wilson?

I heard that people were shying away because of lack of upperclassmen for sports and not enough class options. I was wondering if this is true or not. We are thinking about moving in bounds for Eaton and have a 3rd and 5th grader.

There’s no clear information of curriculum with class offerings, extracurriculars, etc….

Unless DCPS can get their act together to be transparent about leadership, curriculum, sports, extracurriculars, etc… I don’t think many families are going to take the risk with their kids being the 1st of a brand new high school.
