It seems like there has been an RSV vaccine in development for a while now.

Another downside of the huge effort to stop the spread of Covid is that kids weren't getting much exposure to RSV and other viruses. Now it's all coming home to roost.

False. But it helps you to spread false information. The numbers don't support your rumor at all. Older kids who already were exposed to RSV and viruses are in the hospital right now. Your internet meem doesn't support the facts of what is happening. The pandemic didn't start 10 years ago, lots of older kids are sick now who were exposed to everything years ago.
The difference is those older kids have had covid and now they are more vulnerable to other viruses and infections. Covid is making society sicker.

So prior Covid exposure is making RSV infections worse? Do you have a link to that study? Otherwise it sounds as made up as the PP’s assertion.

For people that have google, it's easy to search. Otherwise, stay right here and keep your head in the sand.

It’s because we stopped masking

Did you think our kids would be masked forever? No, sorry.

You can mask your kid as long as you want. But don’t expect everyone to mask.

And, yet, you are probably the same person complaining when you are inconvenienced with a sick child.

First of all, that article barely mentions masking.

Second, do you honestly think that people will mask indefinitely? Or that it's even a reasonable thing to ask, especially of *children*? (It's not) People get sick. Most of the time, it's not a big deal.

Getting sick for some is not a big deal, like for you but there are others of us who it is a big deal for, especially when we cannot work, take care of our kids or elderly relatives. Lucky you.

And from 2020-2021, billions of people made sacrifices that were costly, disruptive and harmful to them in order to protect the vulnerable, because COVID was such a massive threat to their lives. Now, it is mainly a threat to people who choose not to stay up to date with their vaccines. No, indefinite masking is not a reasonable thing to ask of children, you can shout that it's just a minor inconvenience until you are blue in the face but we all know you are sitting at home maskless while you tell children to wear masks for hours every day.

Last time I checked, the vaccines are not stopping transmission very well and at best reduce symptoms but kids aren't generally at risk for death so DCUM says so you hiding behind vaccines is silly to justify your poor behavior. The really issue is you cannot be inconvenienced and are too selfish to care or teach your kids better behavior so you rationalize it with its ok for me to get sick and spread it. Yes, my kids still mask. Unlike you, they care about other people and their family. Nor, do they like getting sick.

LOL You bully (yes, bully, nobody talks like this to random strangers who isn't an absolute monster IRL) your children into masking for hours each day, when you do not have to do the same. Yet I am the selfish person. Ha!

They obviously didn't think things through when they decided to have children. They have no idea what it means to parent.

I will. Because many people are pigs and don't even bother teaching their children to cover their mouths when they cough. Gross pigs.

But it's a big deal right now because we are still in the Covid pandemic. Trifecta of illness this winter.

RSV is scary and lousy for infants, mostly. My oldest was hospitalized with severe bronchiolitis as an infant, so I get it.

For COVID and the flu, though, there are vaccines that largely prevent severe illness and death. Asking the rest of society to mask indefinitely for those who won't get them is unreasonable. The fact that COVID still exists doesn't mean we're still in the acute phase, where we had no idea how to treat it and had no vaccines. Things are different now.

We're talking about respiratory illnesses in children that are in fact spreading like wildfire right now, and filling hospitals. Don't change the subject. This is not about masking forever for COVID, for which we have a vaccine. It is not about society masking indefinitely. It is about CHILDREN who are in DANGER of the current RSV wave, infecting each other in a SCHOOL SETTING. Stick with the subject.

Are you illiterate? Or lost in space, posting on the wrong thread? Because THIS IS ABOUT CURRENT, REAL RESPIRATORY ILLNESSES THAT ARE SENDING REAL CHILDREN, IN REAL TIME, TO THE HOSPITAL. It is not about COVID paranoia. It's not even about COVID. What is wrong with you? Are you a bot that was programmed to just spew out We Will Not Mask Forever For Covid Dr Smith over and over and over? What you are saying makes zero sense on this thread.

First of all, that article barely mentions masking.

Second, do you honestly think that people will mask indefinitely? Or that it's even a reasonable thing to ask, especially of *children*? (It's not) People get sick. Most of the time, it's not a big deal.

Yes, things are different now. You don't care if hospitals are full and health care is unavailable. It's so much better for people to ignore the sick and dying. It's make a happier world for all!

Stop posting here. You are are a troll who gets some weird satisfaction from spewing insults and snark, neither one of which will stop the spread of RSV or help hospitals (especially since you demand kids with runny noses spread their rhinoviruses to newborns in the doctor's waiting room).

It's Rebekah. Just ignore her.

What will be great for RSV is the vaccine, when it is widely available.

Did you think our kids would be masked forever? No, sorry.

You can mask your kid as long as you want. But don’t expect everyone to mask.

And, yet, you are probably the same person complaining when you are inconvenienced with a sick child.

No, they're not inconvenienced at all. They just send them to school sick. Read the thread. They don't care if their kids don't feel well. They don't care if their kids lay their heads on their desks instead of participating or get everyone around them sick. They literally are not bothered in the slightest. They obviously didn't think things through when they decided to have children. They have no idea what it means to parent.

It's so sad that you spend so much time feeling this angry at the imaginary people you created in your head.

Poor Rebekah.

Excessive coughing can be a sign of internal stress.

Maybe the kids are stressed out.
