+1. Additional fees for children too. $$$. |
| We have a housing emergency. There should be nothing off the table. |
No we don’t. Not everyone has to live within the Washington DC limits. Much more affordable housing in PG and other jusisdictions. Just because you can’t afford U St it Karlorama doesn’t a “housing emergency” make. LOL. |
| We've added many thousands of units and 32,000 more residents to Ward 6 in the last 10 years yet it hasn't gotten a damn bit cheaper. More development DOES NOT MEAN more affordable. I think some of these delusional Smart Growth / GGWash idiots need to wake up and realize that even if we get 100,000 more units it still won't make whatever fantasy of them having an affordable highrise condo with a view for $1000 a month to fit whatever salary they are eking out on as a failed planner or architect who writes blog posts instead of doing anything useful. |
Its a simple solution, just move out. Everybody doesn't need to live in the DMV. |
Wasted? Just because you are blind to the wildlife doesn't mean the habitat isn't important. And while you are somewhere else whining about not having enough concrete to enjoy, birders, naturalist, children, hikers are all enjoying these spaces. |
| Tons of affordable housing in PG county. You can buy a house for $350,000 a couple blocks from the border with D.C. Go live there. |
|
Go develop MoCo and PG. You need to, since my streets here in DC are 75% MD license plates and y'all Marylanders are here in my city griping about YOUR OWN traffic here and don't want to let those of us who ACTUALLY LIVE HERE ride our bikes and scooters to work.
Build in your own county. Build office space near where YOU live so that you don't have to drive, so that you can walk or bike or scooter to work the way many of us here in DC do. |
Uh, huh. We all know you just don't want to live in a majority black neighborhood. |
Actually, it is illegal to convert National Park land to housing (unless it’s for National Park Service personnel). |
| Why not just raze Anacostia, build 15 huge apartment buildings- a la Cabrini Greens- and put all the brown poors there? |
No. Poor people need a place to live here, too. The choice is simple: Should we put a roof over a poor person's head or keep subsidizing rich white bros racing around on their mountain bikes? |
WTF kind of idiot comment is that? You don't know anything about me. I already LIVE in a majority black neighborhood, and enjoy it very much thank you. Now how about you stick to the topic of why you think all development has to be in DC and none anywhere else? |
Sure, Jan. Young white dudes' weird obsession with zoning laws totally does not reek of racism. Not at all. No sireee. |
We're just asking you to do your fair share. But I suppose that's just too much for you? |
