Oregon Avenue at Military Road, across the street from St John’s College HS is an open grass field on high ground and flat land. Perfect for development.

No. It’s perfect for recreation. Try your “Trump Growth” flackery somewhere else.

There is no “recreation” happening there, you can see for yourself. Stop being silly.

It would be better to tear down all the SFH housing in NW and turn them into rowhouses.

^^^ THIS ^^^

Best idea of the whole thread.

+1

Add in a cap of 3,000 square feet and lot sizes no larger than 1/8 acre. Anything larger is taken by eminent domain and redeveloped.

Every time an American sets foot in one of our National Parks, there is recreation happening.

And siphon money to very few residents!

When I was a kid there was a city run day camp run out of that area. Once every two weeks all the kids in the camp would spend the night on that field. It was first time I ever sptent the night outside. But yeah....develop it.

This whole GGWash New Urbanist stuff is crap. I'm fine with adding housing but not at the expense of everything. They would gladly turn everything within the bounds of DC into soulless pillars of concrete and steel. Parks and green space are needed for many reasons - livability, for helping abate stormwater, and a thousand other reasons.

Nah. I think we raise your rent to levels in ward 3 new Wegmans area instead. The destruction of SFH will never happen. But keep harping on it instead of thinking of viable options for you to buy a home. It will work out.

Sure. But there is no way to “set foot” into these open, grass areas. So it’s just wasted space that should be better utilized.

Wait!?! The Wegmans/City Ridge development is not affordable homes? Dang! The Smart Growthers promised that density = affordability.
