It is always the woman who is expected to convert. Imagine if your boyfriend had converted to your faith Or perhaps you cannot imagine that. Only Chelsea's Clinton has not been pressured to convert. Ivanka was |
My FIL converted to Judaism for my MIL. My mother did not convert from the religion she was raised in, but fully participated in raising my sister and me Jewish, along with my Jewish dad. But sure. Let’s go with your theory. |
I know plenty of male converts to Judaism. Also, my dad converted for my mom. |
Do you know of a woman who has not converted or who married but is not raising kids Jewish |
I prefer kreplach
|
Yes — most of my cousins are Jewish women who married non-Jews and are not raising their kids Jewish. What are you trying to prove? |
| I did not convert but I happily raise my kids Jewish for my observant Jewish husband. I have no religious affiliation (raised Methodist). |
How can your kids be Jewish if you are not? Have you heard of the halacha I would be more impressed if you were not so submissive |
DP. Patrilineal Jews are considered Jewish by the Reform movement as long as they are raised Jewish. |

I've been Jewish my entire life. I understand ( and can speak a fair amount of) Yiddish. Went to day school, then Hebrew school for years, Moshav and kosher summer camps, grew up in Jewish neighborhood and had all Jewish friends because of my neighborhood. Everyone was kosher, no restsurants until I was a teenager, and I went on my own. We celebrated all the holidays around the year, fast days included. Sukkah decorated in the Fall. A whole house clean out and "sale" of chometz for Passover. I didn't understand what a Christmas tree or Santa Claus was actually until I was 9 or 10 and it made no sense to me.
I have no Jewish bloodline whatsoever. 100% British Isles. |
+1 pp is arguing in bad faith if he or she doesn’t know this. And just because she doesn’t consider them Jewish doesn’t mean others don’t. |
Or, pp is not Reform. |
Even if PP is not reform and does not consider Jewish people of patrilineal lineage Jewish, surely he or she must have a smattering of knowledge of different branches of Judaism to see why others would. He or she is lashing out and just taking cheap shots at others. |
But perhaps OP needs to know that your message of universal acceptance isn’t quite accurate, either. |
I think the poster meant Ashkenazi have identifiable genes or markers that maybe the Sephardi and Mizrahi don't. |
