i'm nearly 40 and in my job i work with a lot of college aged or recent college grads. none of them have seen this movie... so to you its been seen by many, but my experience tells me that a lot havent seen it.

What in the world are you talking about? Of course younger generations will not have seen all the movies ever. I’m sure many of them also haven’t seen The Godfather, but that doesn’t make it a movie no one saw.

Sorry Empire Records is not underrated. Everyone who is in the late 30s-early 40s watched that movie multiple times. I’m sure your colleagues don’t know who Natalie Wood, Groucho Marx, or Orson Welles are. It doesn’t mean that no one saw their movies.
