My boyfriend steals groceries

Anonymous
Whenever he goes to the self check out, he only rings up about 75% of his cart. He says that the store assumes people are stealing and already bake that into the price. He says most men do this.

I am a rule follower and am horrified by this behavior, and terrified he’s going to get arrested.

Do men really steal from the self check out?

And no, he’s not that poor. This isn’t an Aladdin situation.

No, most “men” don’t.

I think he meant to say, "most unethical men do this." It would be a dealbreaker for me, but then I care about honesty.
Anonymous
NO they do not. If this man’s moral compass permits him steal, there is no telling what awful things he is capable of doing to you, others, children, or the elderly. Run!!!

OP grocery theft rates vary from store to store. Maybe you're in a high theft area, but where I live, this would be pretty unusual. How old is your boyfriend and where is he from?
Anonymous
If you are with him and he gets caught you are both getting arrested.

No, most men don't do this. I would never be with someone who is this off morally but also this stupid. Getting arrested over $50?

I'd break up with your boyfriend. Tell him that 75-100% of women break up with thieves and criminals.

No, most men don't do this. What a stupid thought

He is 55, and from Maine, but we live in the DC suburbs now.

If she wasn't there how would she get arrested? Yes, this is a deal breaker for me too though.

A cheat and a thief

This must be a troll. Op sounds like a moron

I would run so fast.

This is absolutely wild. Most men don’t do this. Where do you guys live? And what kind of job does he have? I can’t imagine anyone in my circles doing this. Maybe it’s more common somewhere else?
Anonymous
Lol yes my dad did this when I was a kid. Mortifying.

I couldn't be with someone who has such a flexible moral code. I can't even stand improper recycling. Sure, maybe it's less awful if he's in need but assuming others do it, is crazy. Single issue dumping is so silly but this issue merits a break up
