Would you travel to Amman tomorrow?

Anonymous
Was supposed to travel to Amman Jordan for a wedding tomorrow. Getting super freaked out about the possibility of Iran retaliating against Israel for bombing their embassy and not sure I should go. Would you go? Timing is bad because flight is tomorrow. In a week this could be a nothing burger or WW3.
I am attending a wedding with a friend group. Most are still attending, wedding is still going on albeit more tension. Trip is one week long.
I’m worried about getting caught in the cross fire, or getting stuck there, or Israel or Iran messing up and striking Jordan. FWIW I’m middle Easterrn though very Americanized and familiar with this region. I travel a lot and rarely feel this hesitation. Would you go?

I’m not one for hysteria and have traveled routinely to Jordan. I would not travel.

Iran is not going to miss and hit Amman by mistake. Is that seriously what you’re worried about? It’s not that I disagree with the premise that Iran may retaliate… but they’re not going to do that.

No, nothing new.

Still on the fence- consulting with other members of our travel group. Split between go and risk it because this could be drawn out for weeks or the risk is too big the conflict is too unpredictable. Have a night flight so still debating.

I’d go

I would probably go too. It is just exactly the wrong time as you say for this decision. Things could go either way. However if you don't go and nothing happens, you will regret it. If you do go and Iran and Israel go to war...you will still 99.9% be fine and able to get home

I would go. Make sure to register with the US embassy in Jordan if you have a us passsport now so that they know you are there and you will get alerts / assistance if needed

Good advice!

I would probably go. It's a wedding, the bride and groom are expecting their guests to show up, and I believe the likelihood of your being in the cross-fire, or having trouble getting back, while not nil, are very low.

I know it sounds awful to say when the region is tearing itself up and so many innocent civilian lives have been lost due to the actions of a few insane murderers... but the lives of others must go on, and it's OK for them to enjoy themselves.
