Bermuda, Costa Rica or Hawaii??

Family trip with 2 teens. Timing is flexible. We’re also open to other ideas, but we’ve already visited several islands in the Caribbean and are looking forward to trying something a little different than our typical relaxing beach getaways.

That is easy: Hawaii, if you can stand the travel. It is one of my favorite places and not like the Caribbean at all.

Bermuda is weather/time of year dependent. The high there tomorrow is 63.

Do you recommend Bermuda over the the other options?

Not if you want it to be warm at a time of year when it's cool there! Just pointing out that although you said timing is flexible, you'd have to work around temps which isn't a factor in the other two locations.

I'd recommend Costa Rica with teens, personally. A good mix of beauty, nature, adventure and relaxation.

Hawaii for sure!!

Bermuda is a short trip destination - 2 hour flight, 4 nights is plenty. The others are not the same.

I really like Bermuda, great snorkeling, can be pricey and you can't rent cars to drive around.

Completely different from 7-10 days in Costa Rica or Hawaii.

Hawaii. Next choice would be Costa Rica, then Bermuda. Bermuda is lovely, but there’a not a ton to do and teens would likely find it boring.

In Hawaii, my teens snorkeled along the Na Pali coast, flew above the landscape in a helicopter, learned to surf, ziplined, learned to hula at a luau, and more. Endless fun things to do in Hawaii.

Yeah now that the direct flights from DC are back, Bermuda is a great long weekend destination. We took our longer kids last year (before the direct flights had returned, so was more of a pain). For a longer trip, and with teens, I’d opt for Costa Rica or Hawaii.

Costa Rica hands down

Having done both with teens in the last 3 years, Costa Rica for the win.
Pros: Shorter flight to get there and less time difference to contend with; such varied climate and topography; many similar activities - snorkeling, surfing, hiking; Sloths!
Cons - getting from one area to another is a 3-4 hour adventure over mixed quality of infrastructure. We rented 4WD and drove ourselves and had a lot of fun doing so, but I've seen a lot of fear of driving in other posts about CR

Hawaii was beautiful. We did Maui and Oahu (to see Pearl Harbor). It was a more relaxing trip as we were on the go more in CR, but had more fun as a family in CR.

Hawaii is not much different than any caribbean island. some type of poor third world vibes once youget out of the tourist areas.

Been to hawaii shortly before the Fires. spent ten days between Maui and Oahu.

It's beautiful and I can cross it off the bucket list. but its just another tropical island that speaks english and takes the us dollar.

can get the same thing in Costa rica. did two weeks in CR spent time in Nueava arenal and Del Coco Beach on the west coast. rented a car with the DW.

Would go back to CR in a heart beat over Hawaii.

Have done a cruise to Bermuda. so can't really comment much, but its a small island. fishing snorkeling and hanging out the beach. plus side. its a short direct flight.

CR - you will need to drive up to 3hrs prob to get somewhere you want to be based out of. But once there you can stay out although given the way things are, likely you'll want to travel a bit. We love MA because we can just stay out however. Fortuna as well but we strongly preferred MA because we got the beach with Tulemar. In many locations though if you want a mix of zip, rafting, hike, beach, it calls for some driving.

Hawaii is a bit easier if you pick say Kawaii. But of course it's a long flight

Bermuda isn't going to give you plethora of activity opps the other 2 will and CR gives you really the best.

Puerto Rico is another fave of ours and easy. You get beach zip hiking rainforest but again maybe find traveling involved but I'd suggest less so v CR. It's a toss up between where you stay. CR is a lot of different options and planning is a bit more for it than Hawaii or PR having done all 3.

Bermuda is boring in comparison to HI or CR. Both of those are great.
