Quince Orchard Public Library = Daytime Student Lounge?

Anonymous
This is the second time I've noticed an influx of students from QOHS using QO Public Library as a Lounge during the school day. After around 1PM through 2:15, there were about 30+ kids just sitting around, talking loudly -- marijuana vape could be smelled clearly -- with apparent impunity. The librarians seem powerless to stop it. A call to the HS itself resulted in someone at the front desk stating that they can't control all the kids, essentially noting there is nothing they can do. What the hell is going on? Why is everyone washing their hands of an obvious and serious problem?

IF they are smoking pot inside the library then the police needs to be called. Get the kids out of the library and back to school.

Call the superintendent to come get them.

Lol, now teens can't even go to a library without Karen calling the cops. Go away.

Did you check IDs to be sure they were QO kids?

I might have been there around the same time as you. When I was in HS I used to hang out at the HS library—the fact there’s a public library across the street would have been bliss. The students are very well behaved and I don’t have a problem with them at all—they are polite and on many occasions hold the door open for me and my child. Would have loved them as my HS cohort.

Not if they are smoking pot inside.

So is the OP lying about them vaping and smelling like marijuana? The other problem is, unless they were seniors with half-day schedules, they shouldn't be in the public library at that time. They should be in school.

I saw them walking over.

There were two kids lying on the ground in the stacks, and the rest were loud, like it was lunchtime cafeteria time. There was absolutely no studying going on, so I don't agree with your assessment of them being well-behaved or there for any other purpose than it serving as a lounge. I suppose toking on a THC vape is not problematic either?

I love the kids at QOHS—all my experiences with them are positive.

As with any other place, if you had any issues, you should have complained to the employees.

You will not win any awards for intellectual prowess. If I was an admin, why would I be at the library with my child on a weekday in the early afternoon? Not sure why you are attacking these nice students, but you need to find something better to do.

I did complain, and they said they couldn't do anything. The fact you dismiss all I've said and suggest "all" your experiences have been positive, reeks of some sort of shilling.
