| If you travel to Canada do you exchange money or do you just use your credit card? |
| Credit card. |
| Credit card. We tipped with American money which the receivers very much ch appreciated. |
Wow, how arrogant to tip in your own currency! Get some local currency from the ATM and tip properly for God’s sake! |
| I think it's always good to have a little cash. We got some at the border crossing. Some places in Toronto, like some places in St. Lawrence Market took US dollars. |
I’m Canadian. It’s fine. Euros are fine too. Canada is very multicultural, especially in the big cities and everyone will appreciate your tip! |
| I did both. |
| We do both. Pay credit card when we can but also go to an ATM to carry Canadian $. |
But far more inconvenient for them to have to change. Tipping in local currency always preferred. |
SMH Do we have to tip 15% over there too?? |
Yes |
| I was there for 5 days in February and took my leftover Canadian dollars from a previous trip and only ended up needing about $10 for tips (valet, etc.). |
Th US dollar is currently 1.35 CAD so if you just pretend they are equal while tipping (say, leave US$5 on a CA$25 bill), there will be no inconvenience!
|
We asked what they preferred, they were more then fine with the US currency. |
Of course because they make more money that way because the USD is stronger. You are the one losing money by not paying in local currency. |
