So what is Israel supposed to do? Is Israel supposed to just unilaterally declare a one sided ceasefire, letting Hamas continue to bombard their country and trounce over their borders in repeated recreations of 10/7? Because “The Iron Dome is 100% effective and Hamas hasn’t proven to be able to get past Israeli defenses” according to these people?

There has never been an answer, and I think it stems from a deep misunderstanding of the reality of war, coming from someone who has lived in a war zone before (and no, before you say anything, that war zone was not Israel).

There are no magic new missiles that home in on Hamas membership cards, there are no x-ray goggles for the IDF to use to check whether or not the metal rod behind the back of a Palestinian running full speed at their position is part of an RPG they plan to pull out to fire apron them, or from a medical stretcher because they are an EMT trying to run in to save dying civilians. There is no way to know.

In fact, it’s downright impressive the targeting we have now. In WWII, ‘targeting’ a bomb strike was pointing a bunch of planes towards a major city and telling them to drop bombs on anything that was made of metal.

You are not understanding what needs to be done. Unfortunately, the last six months have made things much, much worse for Israel at least for the next generation, if not two. What where you all thinking when you supported the slaughter of over 10,000 children?!? I mean, has that even sunk into your brain? There is so much wailing over the 253 hostages, and 1200 dead, but Gazans have suffered that death twenty fold. Twenty fold. How do you think the deliberate mass starvation of a people who have been living under an Israeli police state are going to react when the war finally ends? You think they're going to forgive and forget?
If you are being totally honest, you seem to believe that the only way to get rid of Hamas is to eliminate the Palestinian people. That cannot happen, and that is unlikely to happen, but Israel will have done so much damage that there will be virtually no peace for the next 50 years. But what can happen is:
1) End the settlements in the West Bank. All of them. Push out the settlers and punish them.
2) Get rid of the right-wing racists serving in high positions in government and the IDF

Hamas isn’t a signatory to international agreements governing conduct in conflict. Israel is. They have chosen for themselves a higher standard, and now you seem upset that the international community wants to hold them to that standard. Why?

How old are you, eight? Hamas is a terrorist organization. They break ceasefires. Israel, on the other hand, is supposedly a recognized nation state and signatory to multiple international treaties. Israel has been enabling settlers in the West Bank, which also violates treaties, over and over and over agin. They are terrorists, instilling fear and unleashing violence onto Palestinian families living the the West Bank.

No Israel it is Israel who breaks agreements continually. Just look at the West Bank, the 200 Palestinians killed before Oct7, the 12,000 new settlement homes this year, etc, etc. Israel is the problem. It is radical religion terrorist state.

What a load of sh#t. The IDF’s ROE are to shoot on sight any civilians. The IDF kills civilians waving white flags, bomb hospitals, kill their own hostages, etc. These is not house to house fighting. Israel just blows of blocks with bombs or explosives. Israel has failed as a state. It is corrupt to the core and this corruption is shown in the IDF. If Oct7 was so horrible why does Israel keep repeating Oct7 over and over again? Israel needs to be stopped.

Israel could create a route for aid, and control who goes on it. By putting soldiers at checkpoints to ensure only approved passengers and cargo gets on that road.

I’ve supported Israel throughout this conflict, but their callousness over the past two months is just too much. The WCK intentional deaths is a turning point for many Americans who otherwise support Israel.

The hostages are very likely long dead. At this point, the Israeli main goal is to cleanse Gaza of all Palestinians. Egypt locked down the border and there’s no where to go. Israeli need to decide if they want to go down in the history books as butchers of hundreds of thousands of civilians.

This is not a Netanyahu problem. This is an Israel problem. The majority of Israelis want to commit genocide and think that they should still get unconditional support from the US. Only the US matters because no other country supports Israel. The strange thing is the arrogance and entitlement of the Israelis.
The democrats are done with Israel. The voters will inform the geriatric democratic leadership of this in the next election. After that it is just a matter of time before all US support for Israel is stripped away. What’s left of the republican party will soon apply the NATO/Ukraine standards to Israel. Maybe Israel will get a loan?
It will not be the end of Israel but Israel will not be able to continue as a regional power or piss off the neighborhood like they do now. It will be a much different world for them and a lot lower standard of living specifically with the projected increase in ultra orthodox.
