| We would like DD to have something like Venmo so that she can pay friends for group lunches etc. However, we also want to see how much she is giving and to who. Currently she has GreenLight which works really well, and is so easy and transparent. But there is no way to use it for paying friends. Thoughts? |
| Both my teens have Teen Venmo and I really like it. I have Venmo, so I didn't have to learn or download another app. I see every transaction that they make and I can transfer money to or from my kids. |
| PP here, forgot to add that in addition to the app, it has a debit card linked to their Venmo account, which they can use at stores and online. I get notified of all transactions through their cards as well. |
| Both kids have Capital One Money Accounts that are linked to our Capital One accounts so we can see every transaction. They also both have Venmo linked to their accounts. We can see the Venmo transactions, but not the details (eg, Larla sent $23 on Venmo, but not to whom) |
| Most kids we know use Apple Pay, as do our kids. This won’t help you monitor transactions but it’s how they all pay each other and for things when they go out. |
| Most use apple pay. Why can't she pay for her own meals? Paying for group meals is asking for trouble. |
|
My teen has Venmo and it has worked well for them. I get notified when they use the card, send money or receive money.
They also use it to get paid for babysitting and other gig work. |
| Sorry to ask a stupid question. But how do you use Apple Pay to pay another person? |
| My kid is 17, and I want to set up Teen Venmo. Is it fine to set her birthday so she can stay on Teen Venmo the first couple years of college? |
| Our teen has both Apple Pay and Venmo and uses Apple Pay far more often. You can still see the transactions. Go into settings, family, click on the kid, then Apple Cash, then toggle the “notify about transaction” on. |
| I think you guys are talking about Apple Cash, right? Is there a way parents can see who is getting paid from a kid’s Apple Cash once they are past 18? Hope question makes sense |
| Can Greenlight be the card used to load money into a kid’s Apple Cash? |
I have it set so every time my kids make a transaction with Apple Cash, I get notified. But maybe you can't do that anymore once they hit a certain age. But when they got their phones, we set them up as younger than they are so I could maintain parental controls for longer. |
Why would you want this after 18? |
| Are we talking about a 13 year old or a 17 year old? If 17ish, get a debit card that you have access to. So you will see all transactions and they will be hooked up to either zelle, venmo, etc. Teach your kid the power of money. |
