Has DCPS announced the last day of school now that we've had snow days? The online calendar makes it look like:
6/17--school 6/18--no school 6/19--no school 6/20--school 6/12--school Seems crazy to have two days off and then come back for Thursday and Friday. Is this really the plan?! |
There is another post on this and the short answer is no one is sure. I have called my school, they don’t know. I emailed DCPS directly… no response. |
I'm going to guess that they were waiting for the rest of winter to play out. Now that it seems as if our snow chances are done for the year, I bet they announce the plan soon. |
Nothing official yet, but seems highly likely to be:
6/17 school 6/18 school 6/19 no school 6/20 school (last day for students) 6/22 no school (teacher day) |
(PP here, correcting Friday date) |
I heard from another parent who "heard from the chancellor" that Monday the 17th was still the date. However, this seems suspect to me. I just don't understand why it's so difficult to update the calendar. The highly likely scenario listed above is what I would have thought given the original calendar and how snow days were shown, but it boggles the mind that it's not officially posted/updated anywhere yet. |
Ughh... |
Ughhhh |
By executive decision, school ends for my kids 6/14. It may have costs, but at least it has certainty. I recommend that approach. |
+1! |
Why does DCPS pretend that 180 days are required and build in snow days if they are just going to waive to days every year? |
I saw a screenshot in the WTU Facebook group of an email from the chancellor confirming 6/17 as the last day. Why they can’t just email everyone, well that’s how DCPS does things. |
why publish a calendar? |
I actually need to know this asap so I can cancel that week of camp, if need be. Will save us $600.
Get your act together DCPS. |
The Principal of our DCPS elementary confirmed that it will be June 17 for all DCPS |
