USWNT v Canada

How are they allowing this game to continue? Hilarious to watch the players try to figure out how to move the ball in this flooded pitch.

Oh wait…gooooool! Pretty sad, but it counts.

It's gross and terrible soccer. They should have postponed.

If it wasn't for the poor conditions, that first goal wouldn't have happened. US is lucky to get a win and not be going home.

Was it mentioned if there was an actual drainage problem? (Besides the fact that it was clearly a drainage problem)

I looked like they were playing in a swamp it was tough to watch

Unsure, but I recall hearing on the broadcast that the conditions were being brought up multiple times in the first quarter of the game. The ball was hardly moving through that mess.

The referree ran over to the federation official asking that the match be delayed because the conditions were unplayable, the federation official said it was fine.

It seemed really unsafe for players. I am surprised they let them play.

CONCACAF doing CONCACAF things...

Pretty sad display by CONCACAF. If it was the men they would have called it, not cool.

Happy they won but not in that fashion. Awful conditions for that match.

Terrible conditions, especially in the first half. made the game borderline unwatchable. I tried so hard to stay up for the end but fell asleep after the first period of extra time. I'm getting frustrated by how many matches for both women and men are on the West Coast and start so late. It doesn't help grow the game having so many games begin after people's normal bedtimes.

Also, there has to be a problem with the drainage on that field, right? Conditions were miserable during the NWSL playoffs and again last night.

That PK call against Naeher was a poor call IMO. In the case where both players clearly have a play on the ball, it is both players responsibility to consider the collision that will result. To pin the penalty on the GK is a bad call. It is not exclusively the GK's responsibility to avoid a collision.

I agree, it's hard to get my DD interested in watching high level soccer when all the game times are so late, including the late games for DC united (thanks apple TV). Honestly, why couldn't they start the game at 4:15pm on the west coast? Baseball does it all the time.... it couldn't make the attendance any worse than it was.

Understandable to want them to play in a fair weather city (last night clearly isn't the best example) during this time of year, but fully agree that they always play at the same places all the time. Rarely will they play on the east coast. It's always out west, colorado, Ohio, rarely east coast.
