Is this weird?

My work is 100% remote, all of us. We are a team of 10, one supervisor. This am our supervisor told us via chat that there is actually an 11th member who has been a co-supervisor for a year. None of us knew this person existed at all, and was reviewing our work this whole time and on the team.

Uh, yes.

Does your supervisor have a split personality? Maybe the alter ego is the fun one

Completely weird, yep.

Very weird

That’s weird. I also work remote and while when we get new people they’re introduced and everyone turns their cameras on for the first meeting that includes the new person.

Yes that is weird af.

Is it a type of job where you are all doing the same type of work and it is reviewed for accuracy/time, like processing claims or something repetitive?

The only thing I can think of is this is a QA type supervisor who spans multiple teams. Still weird af.

Are there implementation issues? People not working enough issues? Any issues?

I've seen managers bring in a consultant type person to help them solve issues. Or even their boss has assigned a consultant type person to help solve issues. Sort of a back office thing.

This consultant could have been helpful and have now been hired full-time. Plenty of consultants get hired full-time. And now supervisor is telling everyone about the person, but also wants team to know they have first hand knowledge of the situation. And now they will start making suggestions for change.

Yes, something like that. And we do have evaluations and feedback constantly, but always thought our supervisor was the only person doing it.

That would make sense but no, this person has been around a long time, and is part of the same company. It would be very surprising if it were because of new issues since the person will just continue doing what they were doing but now in the open (!?), and we are very aware of how we are doing due to constant reviews (always good).

It is very, very weird.

Especially given that you are such a small team.

Super weird. Maybe there are concerns about your current manager?

Not weird with my job. Shit is always changing, we are all remote, and we do not have opportunities to exchange scuttlebutt.
