Active Duty US Airman Set Himself on Fire Outside Israeli embassy in DC

I’m just catching up on the news after a full day of Sunday chores and I’m speechless.

“ An active-duty airman set himself on fire outside the Israeli embassy in Washington, D.C. today, in uniform.

The District of Columbia Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department confirmed to Task & Purpose that they received a report about a man on fire outside the embassy just before 1 p.m. Eastern Time and dispatched emergency services. The fire had been extinguished by uniformed members of the Secret Service. EMS took the man to an area hospital, saying he was suffering from “critical life threatening injuries.”

I feel the same way as he must have - it's agony seeing Palestinian babies dying on the floor without anesthesia and also agony knowing that the people I thought were the good guys - the Israelis - are celebrating it. I work in a human rights NGO - often with US government funding - and it feels very hypocritical watching Blinken say it is not genocide/ethnic cleansing - when they have funded projects to investigate other countries for much less.

Indeed. Blinken and Biden will go down as shattering much of America’s pretense of high-mindedness. It’s absolutely a disaster!

He looks to be of the age where the "Never Again" propaganda started in daycare. To live your whole life being told that, then "Actually, its ok when we do it" can be a little jarring.
