When they really are normal.
I'm having awful after pains 3 days pp. I know it's normal, uterus involuting. it just really hurts. How do people get through this? I feel so invalidated hearing it is normal. I'm weaker than normal, what now? |
| Ibuprofen, hot pack, grit your teeth! It stinks, but you will get through it. Always worst for me when nursing, take some ibuprofen half an hour before you expect the baby to be hungry. |
| It sounds like anxiety maybe? Not the pain, that's real. I had a different medical issue and the recovery was rough and all was normal, but my anxiety was flaring and convincing myself it wasn't normal and that something bad was going to happen. In the end, everything was fine and recovery was exactly like I was told it would be. But at the time I was like HOW is this normal?!? Something must be wrong. |
No one talks about uterine contractions post baby and while nursing the baby. They are BRUTAL especially after baby 1. The more babies the harder your uterus has to contract. It’s like contractions all over again but it does subside after the first few days or so - taking ibuprofen as noted above helps. I do think if it’s been several days PP and you’re still in a lot of pain then it could be something else…maybe clots (are you passing any golf size or bigger)? Are your pains like cramps/contractions or are they another sensation? Do you feel them more while nursing? |

Do ibuprofen for one more day, and bring it up with your doctor if it continues.
Are you constipated, could that be part of it? |
| I suffered for a few days when I knew something couldn't be right even before leaving the hospital... turns out my stitches were infected. Go to the doctor if you can!! |
| If you feel or even think something is not right. Please go see your doctor. |
