WAMU had a disrupting day, closing DCIST and laying off staffers
Now at 6pm I’m here for Marketplace, and I get all Things considered? Did they change the schedule and not update the website? Did they drop APM programs to save money? |
| That’s weird because I don’t think Marketplace is produced by WAMU. If they get rid of Marketplace, that will be the very last straw for me! |
Yeah Marketplace is an American Public Media show, made in LA. I mean they have a podcast, but the radio is always ahead of when it hits the streams. |
|
They closed, locked staff out of computer systems and are going with preprogrammed stuff. |
| Maybe cutting it into the national broadcast is a WAMU feature, and they’re still operating on autopilot for the rest of the day? |
Ugh end of an era. |
No one is listening anymore. It had to die |
| Too much whining on the local coverage |
| Not surprised. They’ve been in a steady decline for years. |
| Oh well. It became the 24/7 whining DEI channel. I listened and donated back when they had curious open-minded people like Diane Rehm. They will not be missed. |
| WAMU did not close. |

They really should fix this. For now the Wayback Machine or cached versions may work. Such blatant disregard for their employees and the community. Are they angry that people did not support their changed product, so, no website for you?

Not yet but it’s a sinking ship and only a matter of time. |

WAMU is not going to close. DCist is closing and it had way too many staff. It looks like the management is handling this quite poorly.
