what do we think about this house in Fairfax?

I like the layout and the master suite looks great. I think the commute to downtown DC isn't too bad, especially with a hybrid schedule. Just do not know that part of Fairfax well.

It’s close to the Vienna metro, which is desirable if a bit far out. I’m not crazy about the feel of that area— pop density is particularly high. But most consider it a very nice area, and it is quite convenient.
I think it is a nice house — it is in good condition and a nice size. Lots of natural light. Looks like a good opportunity for someone who likes the area and doesn’t mind stairs. |

Its a hard pass.
1. The location is way too close to 66 for my taste. Your kids will have asthma. You won't be able to open your windows. 2. The schools are fine, not the best, not the worst. 3. The house itself is hideous. I am not a fan of SFH sited on townhouse size lots. It looks incredibly tacky. I would be cringing driving up to it every day. 4. The interior is fine. Basic, nothing special, nothing hideous. 5. Schools: the realtor tried to hide the school details by just putting in "FCPS". Always a red flag. If the realtor doesn't want to list the schools in a listing, you don't even want to bother with the house. I would not send my kid to any of the three zoned schools. |

The inside of the house is boring, but fine. The lot, lack of privacy, crappy schools, and crappy location make it an easy no.
