| My 4 years old is left-handed (writing, using scissors, utensils etc.). We don’t really correct her or anything, but my mom was just worries about her handwriting when videochatting with me this morning. I know many left handed were using right hand to write. Shall I do that to help my kid for future writing? She’s just very into writing lately. She can use left hand for everything else. Any thoughts? |

Was your mom born in 1843?
The answer to your question is no. |
Yes. You cannot be serious. |
|
No, there are horror stories of the trauma inflicted on left handed children forced to
Write with their right hand. Times have changed and the world is more welcome to lefties now. Let her be. |
| OMG no. This happened to me in an evangelical school. It’s still distressing. |
| No. I have a left handed child and a left handed husband. You should have your kid practice and make sure they are holding their pencil in such a way that they can see the letters. Not completely over the line. |
| Troll? |
What would there be to "correct" about writing left-handed? It's not like that is a wrong way to do it. |
| Wtf no |
|
Does your mom also think witches should be burned?
|
|
OMG NO!!!
What is this, 1924?? |
| i would. develop both sides of the brain. worked out beautifully for my brother who writes righty and plays (sports) lefty. excelled in both. |
| The best way to make sure a lefthanded kid has terrible handwriting is to make them write righthanded. |
Except that there is loads of evidence of how damaging it is to force children to write with their non-dominant hands. |
Please NO!! Signed by parent of a left handed child, father and FIL- at least 2 of the 3 are visual artists, with beautiful handwriting. |
