I saw the reports of the diagnosis but having trouble believing. I am aware of various dementias and something doesn’t seem right including the secrecy of keeping her away from family like her own son. Dementia is something that is diagnosed with symptoms so could be a number of things. I hope she is not being taken advantage of. Her son should know where she is. |

Wendy Williams, 59, Diagnosed with Aphasia and Frontotemporal Dementia, per Her Medical Team |
She has a legal guardianship b/c her family wasn't taking care of her, just spending her money. |
Something does feel right to me either. Like her "fainting spell" while dressed as the statute of liberty looked 100% fake to me. I think she's mentally ill and they're looking for something less stigmatizing to diagnose her with, but what do I know... |
I don’t know something feels off. With Bruce Willis his family was involved and are super open and his symptoms seem consistent with a diagnosis of frontal temporal disorder including how rapidly he is declining ie no speech. This is a very quick demise dementia. Her symptoms do not what I have seen and secrecy is strange. Family can be kept away from money if that is best but they always had a living relationship. How can an outsider cut them off. I also think a lot of her symptoms happened when her husband left. I would not be surprised if she completely snapped. Again this form of dementia is not a blood test. Maybe if there is shrinkage in frontal lobe? I think assume it is like a tumor or blood test. It is a highly subjective diagnosis. |
The way we got a diagnosis of primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia for my MIL was through a neurological evaluation with the Dr. as well as brain imaging scans. They can see the atrophy/changing/shrinking of brain tissue on the scan. It's not that hard to diagnose if you do this as it is easy for the Dr. to see the atrophy on scan. So I doubt they are lying about it. It is something that does completely change people's behavior and the person w/ aphasia and/or dementia will not seem like the same person you once knew at all. It may seem like they have mental illness because they will act strangely, be very aggressive/agitated when they never demonstrated behavior like that before, etc. It is all part of dementia/aphasia. |
Wendy has a brain disease and something else that's killing her. She could already be dead. |
Frontal temporal lobe dementia-behavioral variant can make your behavior erratic, dramatic, abusive, and really out there. There are 2 types of this dementia and it varies by person. |
She also has graves disease which is hard to live with, I have it too and some times feel crazy give her a break. |
I have Graves and have been stable for years, but the 2 years following my diagnosis at 36 were fraught. I have no doubt her diagnoses are correct. They're all diseases that can be easily diagnosed with the right exam, a specific blood test for Grave's and brain MRI with neurological consult for fronto-temporal dementia. Very tragic for her. I hope she's receiving good care. |
I feel so much for her. It's a horrendous disease--truly terrifying for the patient and a burden on the family/caregivers. The secrecy may also be part of it--theres something called anogsonia that is unawareness/masking of symptoms that is very common with these illnesses. |
If she has dementia, and obviously had it while filming, she isn’t able to concentrate to filming this. How dare Lifetime or whoever is putting this out, do this. People should boycott this film. It is shameful that people are making money and violating the privacy of a nonconsenting adult. |
Wendy admitted to struggling with a long-term cocaine addiction before she started her TV show, drank excessively to the point of multiple hospitalizations over the last 5 years, and has never replaced her breast implants from the early 90s. The combination of that plus the staggering abuse from her husband fried her brain. I think she'd experience a significant alleviation of her health issues if she removed those old implants. |
I just read the report. I feel so sorry and sad for her. |
