I recently went down a rabbit hole looking at what appliances are the best and came across Miele. I see they have vacuum cleaners, and I need a new one. Anyone have experience with Miele vacuum cleaners, or have an opinion on their appliances? What do you think is the best vacuum -- I feel like the answer is Dyson, but I don't know how real that is; I bought a Dyson hair dryer due to hype and was disappointed.
What new vacuum should I buy? |
| According to Consumer Reports, Kirby sucks the best. Good workout, too. |
| Bought a Miele 17 years ago. Loved it so much that I bought one for my mom and one for my MIL. My original one is still going strong all these years later. |
| I just use a Dyson stick on each level and I’m very happy, but I don’t have any carpeting or very thick rugs. |
| Dyson corded vacs are not what they used to be I'm afraid. My Miele vacuums are the best quality machines I've ever owned. However, for day to day cleaning, I really like my Dyson cordless vacuums. |
| SharkNinja has some really good vacuums |
| I’ve had a Meile cat and dog for many years, and it does a great job. |
| I hated our Dyson. Love our Shark pet. Couldn’t spend the $$$$ on a vacuum cleaner my kids bang up and down the steps. I’m thinking about getting a second one and maybe a third to have one on each floor! |
10/10 recommend a vacuum on each floor! I keep a central vac tool kit on my main and upper floors and then an older Miele in my basement. It's so nice to not drag hoses/machines up and down the stairs. |
OP here. I hate dragging my vacuum up from the basement, especially up to the second floor. In fact dread of doing so means I don't vacuum as often as I should. But I don't have room to store a vacuum on every floor. |
PP here with the central vac. My MIL gifted me a cordless Dyson for Christmas that I keep in my mudroom. It mounts on the wall and takes up very little room. I'd consider that if you have mainly hard floors and low pile rugs. I'd still want my heavy duty plug-in vacuum for carpeted areas every once in awhile but for the most part, I could probably get by with just this new cordless vac. |

Dyson V15 but only from Costco because of their great return policy. It's on sale now at a really good price. Comes with so many attachments including one just for hardwood that has a green light that lights up every single speck of dust on the floor like a blacklight.
Do not get the V10 (very lightweight/cheaper parts, lower suction power). For a corded, I really like this one that our old preschool used daily and held up great: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001NDNV18/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 |
| Miele. I had one for a long time and loved it but when it broke finally, I bought a Dyson. I do like how light it is, but it really isn’t good enough to vacuum a whole large house on a single charge. I just bought a new Miele and am very happy to be back with it, the power is so much better than the Dyson. |
| I bought this a month ago and like it very much. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B2CTWVJ6 |
| I have two Shark Stratos pet vacs, one for each floor. I used to love Dyson but have found that the new uprights are not as great with pet hair as the older models, especially on rugs or carpet. I took a chance and bought a Stratos after reading a lot of great reviews. Loved it so much, I bought a second one for our upstairs. The Stratos has a hair free brush head that for some design miracle - never gets hair wrapped around it. Genius. |
