Which would provide the best experience during and after completion of a degree?
Penn State Smeal university park or University of Pittsburgh? DS wants to study finance and make a lot of money in their career. |
| Both are good, but I think Penn State. Pitt is a little better known for the sciences. Plus, the Penn State alumni network is REAL. They love fellow grads. |
| If he wants to study Finance why doesn’t he look at Bucknell. |
| That's my recommendation, too. Guaranteed pipeline to The Street. |
| Ok here ..we are counting on the the DC Tag program for public schools |
Neither Penn State or Pitt is some tremendous pipeline to Wall Street, P/E or hedge funds. Not that it is impossible, but you will have to network aggressively and bust your a** to stand out. I don't understand the "wants to major in finance and make a lot of money". If you go to the Penn State website and search for top FT employers for finance it returns Aldi and Grant Thorton, You can get a decent-paying job from those companies and a good career...but it's not a ticket to millions. |
| Lehigh |
I agree with this based on personal experience with Penn State and Pitt. |
Penn State Smeal is 5% acceptance rate, which is harder to get in than Wharton (9%). But I would apply to both to increase the change to 14%. |
That’s a myth…acceptance is a bit over 20%…someone didn’t do the math properly when they created that 5%. |
Please, please, let someone else in your family handle all your finances. |
| Don’t confuse UPenn Wharton with Penn State Smeal. |
Awesome math! Apply to all top 20 schools so that you have 100% chance for an admit. |
I always thought Penn state would be my kid’s safety. A few months ago, someone posted that Penn state’s undergrad business acceptance rate was 4%! My kid’s dream school is Wharton. |
Stop…it’s a little over 20%…its easily searchable. |
