Better title?
I’d appreciate if my post would not be deleted this time. If the responder could please post what her birth defect was that uneven breasts were the symptom, I would really appreciate it. I will mention it to my child’s doctor at her next appointment. |
| I’m a former OR nurse . It’s more common than you think. I’ve seen plastic surgeons perform breast lifts or breast reductions on one breast only to even them out. Of course you have to wait till she is fully developed to explore that route but I just wanted to offer some assurance that it’s usually not a cause for concern. |
| completely normal. google it. It is quite common for breast size to be unequal during puberty. If they are different sizes near the end of puberty, they are likely to stay unequal. There is no medical need for treatment for unequal breast size. Unequal breasts won't affect breastfeeding or increase breast cancer risk. |

It’s not a birth defect, it’s in the continuum of normalcy in female human beings.
https://kidshealth.org/en/teens/breast-size.html#:~:text=It%20is%20normal%20to%20have,when%20they're%20fully%20developed. I had a best friend growing up who had one that was barely a B and the other was a D at least. When she got older and after she had her kids and breastfed them, she got surgery to lift them and make them fairly uniform in size. |
| PS my friend was understandably self conscious about it when we were teens, and her mom helped her pad the small side of her bras so they looked more equally sized in clothing. |

I’m the poster you are asking about. No, I am not about to detail any part of my medical history online.
You are literally wasting your time not going to a plastic surgeon. Why ask your doctor about something they may have seen once or twice instead of asking a doctor who does this for a living? Your pediatrician is going to just tell you they may even out. Your daughter will be better served with a plastic surgeon. As someone who has lived this, PLEASE just take your daughter to a plastic surgeon to understand a)what the issues are (or are not) and b)what the options are. Do not listen to the posters saying it’s not a birth defect. They don’t know. A plastic surgeon will. Just make the appointment. Georgetown is a good place to start. |
You’re posting anonymously. Unless you’re the single only human in the world who has ever been diagnosed with this, HOW do you think you’re going to be identified? I’m not asking for your personal information or for your entire medical history. I’m asking for you to simply state the birth defect so I can name it to the plastic surgeon and not seem totally ignorant to what you are suggesting it is. I appreciate your guidance and I’m booking an appointment tomorrow. -OP |
Before you make an appointment with a plastic surgeon, clarify with them that you're taking about a teen and ask if they would even treat that. I'm guessing most would not while still in development. |
| My friend had uneven breast development and it was discovered to be a result of a form of scoliosis. She had it evened out with plastic surgery as a young adult. |
| Our pediatrician last visit literally said this is common during puberty. It wasn’t an issue for our kid but was something our dr was getting frequent questions people asked her. She said if it happens it’s normal during puberty and reassess later. |
| FWIW, I’m the one who suggested the new title but I did not report the thread to get it deleted. |
Why is your title in quotes and why are you rolling your eyes? |
Because my first post title was offensive to many who are not comfortable with naming appropriate anatomical body parts with the teen’s age (13) and it was deleted, which is shocking to me considering what else is allowed to be posted on this forum without condemnation. I changed the title to one of the suggestions of an offended previous poster in the deleted thread and wanted to give that person credit, so I put it in quotes. Ridiculous? Yes, I agree. -OP |
This is exactly me. I had quite uneven breast development linked to scoliosis. I also had it evened out with a plastic surgeon when I got older. |
