| I am repainting the interior of my house prior to selling it. What paint color should I use? |
| White |
| I bought/sold a couple years ago but both my old and my new house were painted Accessible Beige for sale. We kept it in the new house. |

OP the biggest factors are:
1) The color of the trim, if you’re not painting it (there’s no such thing as “white”) 2) The color of the floors 3) The color of the kitchen cabinets, countertops and flooring There are popular off whites and neutral gray or beige that are popular because they go with a wide range of answers to 1,2 and 3 above and it’s wise to stick with those. But you still need to verify that it works in your space. A good agent can help you. Basically you’re looking for an off white or light gray or beige with similar or analogous undertones to your trim, flooring and kitchen colors. |
No, not gray. |
If your house was built in the early 2000s, it probably has cool toned floors and trim. It’s more important that it matches than that it’s trendy. BM classic gray is going to show that house much better than a beige. I mean I’m sure there’s a beige that will work, but you’d have to be really careful. |
I guess what I’m getting at is that the colors in your house are a whole palette, and the whole palette has to work together. The wall color is important and can pull things in one direction or another and help things look more or less updated, but it doesn’t change the whole thing and you have to work with what you’re not changing. |
Which is exactly why gray should not be selected. It is trendy and out. |
| If you don’t plan to paint the trim, I’d paint the walls BM Grey Mist which is between tan and grey and will provide contrast to your exisiting presumably white trim so you don’t have to worry about clashing. If you are repainting the trim, I’d paint the walls BM Chantilly Lace which is considered a neutral white. |
And what is your alternative suggestion, Ms. Negative? |
| If I have orange-hue hardwoods, what white is good? |
| BM Chantilly Lace |

The lighter the better. Makes house look bigger.
White is the most universal as it goes with everything. Like mentioned earlier, check your trim/moulding to see how that complements. Maybe even check ceiling too. You'll want to paint as little as possible so make sure it all goes together. If you want an example, we matched BM Decorators White with Trim/Moulding/Ceiling painted in Behr Ultra Pure White. The Decorators White is a slight off-white that shades very slightly grey in the right light. The ultra pure white make that distinction pop. Really though, since you're selling, paint it white and call it a day. |
| We chose SW crushed ice for our whole house paint. Personally not a fan of beige but didn't want a super cool grey either (and it wouldn't have worked with the orange-hued floor). The SW crushed ice seemed about as neutral/warm of a grey as you could get that doesn't lean heavily beige. I think it might technically be an off-white. |
