I need to find a good recipe and any tips from bakers out there. Thanks.

They’re pretty straightforward but the most important thing is using high gluten flour, weighing the flour, and giving your oven time to really heat up.

I found the hardest part of the whole thing to be the shaping. Make sure you use a recipe with barley malt, for NY style bagels.

I just ordered an out of print cookbook with lots of NY bakery recipes (for a totally different reason). I intend to try the bagel/bialy recipe. Will let you know if it’s better than what I have made previously.

I use this recipe! My oven isn’t all that great and my bagels turn out excellent. Definitely use a food scale to weigh ingredients, use King Arthur bread flour, and use the barley malt syrup! It makes a difference

Do it! So tasty. Pretzels are very similar to make and also yummy.

Most health food stores have it, in the honey/brown rice/agave syrup aisle.
