Cupcakes are out Donuts are in?

If this is true, where are the good donuts to be had in this area? Do we have any beside KK and the horrid DD?

No we don't. But stay tuned, an ex-lawyer will undoubtedly sniff out a 'trend' and open an artisan donut shop in Georgetown or Logan Circle soon.

btw, the hipster donut thing have been there-and-done on the West Coast for, like, 10 years

The Burtonsville Amish Market (which has since moved and is no longer in Burtonsville, but I forget where) had really good donuts. The one time I was there though, it looked like most of the customers had enjoyed donuts and sausages a little too much for a little too long, and it kinda made me too scared to indulge.

DD is known as the upper East Coasts best. Clearly you don't like donuts.

I posted on another thread about the 30 Rock episode where the Alex Baldwin character instructs a newcomer to NYC about how to fit in. He says, "cupcakes are out, donuts are in."

That episode is a few years old, now. So maybe donuts are out now too, but I'm not hip enough to know about that.

There's a good donut place in Silver Spring called The Fractured Prune. But I like DD too.

Ditto Fractured Prune. That was always and Ocean City thing, but now they are popping up elsewhere.

But I'll stick to cupcakes.

Fractured Prune is THE BEST. I thought they only had shops at the DE beaches. I'm driving my pregnant ass out to Silver Spring for a doughnut!!!

The bacon toffee donut at Birch & Barley is delightful.

Fractured prune is in Rockville too. Too rich and sweet for me but my kids and Dh love them.

Raised donuts, people! Where are the RAISED donuts? Any ol' place can make cake donuts (like Fractured Prune). And anyone who likes Dunkin' Donuts is deluded...that place sucks.

I think Dunkin' Donuts is the best place on earth for both donuts and coffee. all you haters probably LOVE starbucks...now that place sucks

I think DD quality varies from store to store honestly. But I'll take a large iced coffee dark roast from DD over Starbucks' venti iced coffee any day.

The best donut place is any donut shop at 5 am. It is difficult to improve on sugar flour and fat except for one thing: warm sugar flour and fat.
