| Is it true that some schools will come to your house to hand-deliver and/or celebrate acceptances? We’ve been hearing rumors of this. If so, which schools? |
| not really |
I've seen St Andrews do this in the past - red & white balloons etc. And in the height of COVID, we saw schools come put up signs in our neighbors' yards. (this included GDS) |
| As I said elsewhere, if a school had done this to us it would be a big fat mark in the con column for us. Unannounced visitors to our home are never welcome. We’re introverts, and we’re messy. Give us a solid 24-48 hour notice. Even if you’re Mom, especially if you’re someone from a potential new school we might want to impress. |
| Have heard of packages in the mail and calls from the HOS, but not in person celebrating. |
| St Joe’s in Philly famously does this. |
Baltimore area independent schools (including Gilman, Loyola, CHC, etc) hand deliver acceptances. |
| It’s creepy af |
| As someone who have been through the admissions process, I can tell you that the only way I have received the acceptances news was via Ravenna portal on the announcement date. There was nothing else going on such as mails sent home or phone calls. |
We are not messy. But agree. That’s so pedestrian (for those of you using word class, the prefix is low) |
| We got a phone call. |
We've gotten calls, emails, packages, etc. Varies by school and year. |
| We got a phone call from Bullis and a package that exploded into glitter when my daughter opened it. No house visits (thankfully, because I agree that is creepy AF). |
Glitter bombs would also be a mark in the “no” column for me. |
| I have this amusing picture in my head now of a bunch of schools standing outside someone’s front door with balloons and flowers but no one is home. |
