There are so many sites that advertise things, but have no idea where to begin. I am borderline in terms of qualifying, my dr tried to put it through, ti did not get approved (HATE my insurance company).
so my husband has agreed to pay for 3 months for me to try it out of pocket. I understand its between 1000-1500. Does anyone have any solid reliable recommendations? So appreciate any help or direction...I am desperate two of my kids are getting married in July and December and I am determined to get rid of this weight! |
Ask your doctor to write it to say “can be compounded.” I just switched primary doctors over this because my original doctor wasn’t comfortable with the idea of it being compounded - she wouldn’t elaborate on why. Anyway, call compounding pharmacies near you, get their number and then have your dr fax it them. Starting dose for compounded ozempic is $125/month. I’m no longer living in the DC area though, so I’m not sure if regulations are different. |
I saw a note on a website saying compounding wan't an option in VA or MD. But I don't know more than that. (It has a bunch of states where it wasn't allowed.) |
I mean, this isn't something you just stay on for 3 months, OP. You do understand that, right?
What other changes will you make in your lifestyle? It's not magic -- you still have to watch your carbs, exercise, etc. for it to be effective. |
please don't take the easy way out. It only lasts as long as you're using the meds.
Change your lifestyle, grieve for using food as a crutch. |
It’s not some underground thing.
Get the script from the doctor. If the doctor won’t give you one, look for a weight loss doctor. Check online for coupons, manufacturer help, Good Rx, etc. Go to pharmacy. Fill script with one pen (a month’s supply). Repeat as indicated. |
please unless you know me and my life, don't point your finger and preach. I have lost 2 very important people in my life in the span of 6 months, have a child with mental illness and I am hanging on by a thread. I ate my way through sadness and depression for the last few years and especially so these last 6 months. . I will do whatever it takes to lose weight and feel better about myself. yes, likely good lifestyle changes will happen as well but I need a jumpstart not unlike millions of others and am not apologizing for it. |
You can just go to CVS and tell them you’re paying cash.
I pay between 8 and 900 at CVS, but I’m on the lowest dose. |
I think the question is about availability-- most CVSs haven't had lowest dose in stock for months. |
I get it (compound version) online through one of the many subscription services. I think they also offer brand name though not sure. |
You are a dick. |
Agree. I don’t think this is something you “try for 3 months” especially if you want to keep the weight off through December. |

I’m sorry OP, that life has been so hard. Don’t let the jerks get you down, you’re not asking anything crazy. For what it’s worth, I heard that most insurers are just not covering it for 2024, unfortunately. Insurance companies are just awful. That’s great that you can pay out of pocket for the time being! |
