So? I’m at a loss as to why this is a big deal. A bunch of private citizens writing a letter expressing their opinion at the urging of other private citizens.

Prompted by Antony Blinken - a member of the Biden campaign. Done so Biden could use the "51 IC professionals" narrative in the debate just days later.
Election interference.
Biden knew it wasn't Russia disinformation.

A campaign doing campaigning is election interference? What?

Yep. They were flat out lying and they knew it. Can't wait for a hearing in which they question Blinken about this.

Here's the letter: https://www.politico.com/f/?id=00000175-4393-d7aa-af77-579f9b330000
Here's the key passage: "We want to emphasize that we do not know if the emails, provided to the New York Post by President Trump’s personal aSorney Rudy Giuliani, are genuine or not and that we do not have evidence of Russian involvement -- just that our experience makes us deeply suspicious that the Russian government played a significant role in this case."
Where's the lie here? I don't see one.

They tout their credentials and write a letter that reeks of superiority in order to mislead the American people.

Let's look at how Politico covered the letter:

More than 50 former senior intelligence officials have signed on to a letter outlining their belief that the recent disclosure of emails allegedly belonging to Joe Biden’s son “has all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.”

The letter, signed on Monday, centers around a batch of documents released by the New York Post last week that purport to tie the Democratic nominee to his son Hunter’s business dealings. Under the banner headline “Biden Secret E-mails,” the Post reported it was given a copy of H. Biden’s laptop hard drive by President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani, who said he got it from a Mac shop owner in Delaware who also alerted the FBI.

While the letter’s signatories presented no new evidence, they said their national security experience had made them “deeply suspicious that the Russian government played a significant role in this case” and cited several elements of the story that suggested the Kremlin’s hand at work.

“If we are right,” they added, “this is Russia trying to influence how Americans vote in this election, and we believe strongly that Americans need to be aware of this.”

Nick Shapiro, a former top aide under CIA director John Brennan, provided POLITICO with the letter on Monday. He noted that “the IC leaders who have signed this letter worked for the past four presidents, including Trump. The real power here however is the number of former, working-level IC officers who want the American people to know that once again the Russians are interfering.”

And, then Biden uses this letter in his final debate:

"Look, there are 50 former National Intelligence folks who said that what this, he's accusing me of is a Russian plan. They have said that this has all the characteristics-- four-- five former heads of the CIA, both parties, say what he's saying is a bunch of garbage. Nobody believes it except him, his, and his good friend Rudy Giuliani."

This letter allowed Biden to lie... and he knew it was a lie. That is one reason Blinken had them write it when they did... according to Morell.
So, they could counter the laptop story with a false narrative.

Watch Twitter shut down all of the Dem accounts in August of 2024, weeks before the election. Nothing is stopping them from doing it. The Dems need to be prepared for this.

Lol the many laptops of Biden are fake. Why do you keep on with this fake narrative? On a side note why John Paul Mac Isaac not in prison? Who would trust this creep with your computer or credit cards. Isn’t facing charges for hacking? It’s a crime and he admits it. He must have cut a deal with Trumps DOJ.

The "story" is that the Trump people tried to manufacture a scandal using Ukraine as a cudgel against the Bidens. So far, it hasn't worked, and yet,. these people, who KNOW Fox lies, that Murdoch and his platforms lie, continue to propagate the myth.

The FBI has had the laptop since 2019.
They are not fake. The email recipients have confirmed the emails are authentic.
Paul Mac Isaac hacked nothing. HB left his laptop and then abandoned it. It then became the property of the shop owner.
You deny the truth because it is negative for your guy. Sorry. Truth hurts.

Giuliani’s possession and intervention taints the evidence even if no Russians were involved. The FBI and the journalists investigating couldn’t accept the laptop as ironclad proof so they searched for other evidence that would verify the laptop. They didn’t find any evidence of anything illegal.

The FBI had the original laptop in 2019. They KNEW that the laptop was authentic.
Your premise is wrong.
And, yes... there were illegal activities documented on the laptop.

What illegal activities were “documented” on the laptop and why is there no evidence of it except on the laptop?

I'm pretty sure smoking crack is illegal. I also believe paying for prostitutes is illegal.
And, that gun he had in the pics? Illegally acquired.

What about 10% for the "big guy?"

Read anything written by anyone who looked into it.
Who proposed that to Hunter? Tony Bobulinski.
Did it happen? No. No Big Guy deal. No money. Nothing.
Your whole conspiracy is based on nothing.

David Sacks is a very close Musk ally, he's the one who had me permanently suspended from Twitter when I pointed out to him that absolutely anyone could create a totally phony "David Sacks" account with a checkmark and masquerade as him.
