We are in K at a wonderful K-8 but when I look down the road to middle school (5th grade), if things stay as they are, my son will not have a Black male teacher while in elementary school. All of our teachers are young white women through 4th grade. I know this is a common problem in public and private but was wondering if anyone attends a private elementary that has Black male teachers in elementary school? We are in Bethesda but would travel to DC as well as Maryland.
Thank you. |
Try Green Acres school.
GDS does.
Not MD or DC but Burgundy Farm in Alexandria.
I was also going to mention Burgundy Farm, although that would make for a rough daily commute to/from Bethesda. For its size, they have a pretty diverse faculty and staff.
Gilman
Beauvoir and GDS
SSFS has a diverse faculty in both US and LS (though not sure specifically about black male elementary teacher).
Are you intending homeroom teachers only? What about specials?
All of them according to google.
Yup, Gilman does such a good job with diversity among its faculty, across all divisions. |
Sidwell lower school.
Norwood has an Art teacher who is amazing for the lower school, but he is one of two so you would need to request.
Thank you. I was looking at homeroom. |
Green Acres does
