Hot flashes due to menopause

I’m 50 and still have regular periods. When did you start getting hot flashes? Just wondering what I should expect going forward.

At 42 when it became obvious that periods were irregular.

Wondering if hot flashes happen during menopause and after menopause?

I was about 48 when they began. They have let up and come back several times. I'm now 53 and they are so awful I've recently gone on HRT. The flashes are not gone yet, but they do seem to be diminishing, so we'll see.

I was officially menopausal (1 year period free) last September.

I started having hot flashes and night sweats at age 40 following a partial oophorectomy that launched me into perimenopause. My doctors were crap so I didn’t even get offered HRT until I was 51 and had spent a decade in crippling chronic insomnia which ruined my health.

I know women who still have hot flashes and night sweats in their 70s, so I have every intention of staying on HRT until I die.

My mom had them from 50-82 (when she died.)

I'm 51 and get hot flashes horrendously when Im.stressed out. I started having menopausal changes in my mid 40s. No one really talked about it much and it caught me off guard. I started crying over unnecessary things, like when I was pregnant. I thought I was losing it (even wondered if I had a brain tumor) I known it sounds crazy, but im not a crier. It scared my kids, who rarely ever saw me cry, lol. Anyway; my dr ran a blood test and checked my hormone levels and it showed signs of peri menopause. Good news is that was the worst. I'm still not quite in menopause but I feel much better now at 51. Of course, It's different for everyone. But I rarely ever have hot flashes if i keep my stress levels under control.

I'm on my way to menopause. 52 and almost at a year of no period. I started getting hot flashes around age 48. I think I've been lucky because I haven't had too many overall.

Stress causes hot flashes. Limit stress as much as possible.

I beg to differ PP. Hormones, not stress cause hot flashes.

Speaking from experience, stress CAN trigger hot flashes. There is the hormonal component but reducing stress causes less of them. Speaking from personal experience.
