| A mom I know is posting a photo of every single college acceptance letter her kid receives, including the merit amount. And tagging the kid himself. “So many exciting opportunities!” It’s great to be proud of your kid, but this strikes me as odd. (Not jealous, my kids aren’t quite at this stage yet.) |
| Weird but not enough to care |
| I have a friend do this as well minus the merit awards. Neither her or her DH attended college and I think they're just really excited for their kid. I'm happy for them and their DC |
| I’ve seen this a few times. |
| I have not seen this at all. My kid would be horrified. |
|
I find the vast majority of things people post on social media to be weird. My kid would read me the riot act for doing this, especially because it is their news to share or not.
|
| Is her kid a first gen student? |
| My kid is IN college and I haven’t even posted where he went. |
Yeah, I wouldn’t do it but also not going to come to an anonymous forum and complain about someone else doing it. |
Good. Why would you? That is his business |
This is actually the kind of mom I would want. Kids are in elementary now so I hope that all this gauche social media behavior has gone away by then. |
Oh, I hate this so much. For one thing, my kids would kill me. Such a micro-meddling, braggy thing to do. For another ... it just gives all these parents so much information. I've only seen this from a few of my kids' friends' parents, but it drives me up the wall. |
And yet here you are... |
|
Mom needs some hobbies or a life of her own. She’s also insecure.
Time to unfollow. It will only get worse as college approaches. Life’s too short for this idiocy. |
I’m closer to this too. I have 2 in college and I may have posted with #1 but didn’t with #2 because she didn’t want me to. I won’t post about my kids if they ask me not to. Anyone important to us knows where they’re going. |
