Another middle school fight, but this time the police were called.

Good grief. Well, at this to the long list of safety and security incidents in MCPS schools. A box cutter though at least makes sense as to why it would be in a school setting. |

There is not much more to tell. It is all second and third hand knowledge. That being said, my 8th grader said it was two girls. They fought in the hall when they were supposed to be in class. My 6th grader said they heard the person was stabbed in the neck. They were on lock down since it happened. It happened at the start of 6 period. Dismissal was slower with two buses being called at a time. |

I was considering transferring my child to Banneker (our home school) next from Loiederman. Never mind.

To the above PP this kind of stuff is happening right now in every MS.
It sucks but Banneker is no worse tbat any others. 2 Rockville 14 year olds were arrested today riding in a car they had stolen overnight. Skipped school today to drive around in it…. 8th graders. It’s nuts. |

two girls fighting is not a new thing, and they don't need to be strong to fight each other. A box cutter is light, and doesn't require much physical strength to slice open skin. |

We’re not at Banneker or Loiderman, but I have a kid at another MCPS MS. There are regularly fights and sometimes they spill over into the neighborhood areas/stores. The political climate is currently anti-police, so our police department is under funded. Our political leaders chose to remove SROs from schools and embrace restorative justice. Kids learn early that they can get away with horrible behavior and that nobody cares. Nobody will administer consequences. |
