Gifted and talented letter

Does the G&T letter go out to everyone? I heard some parents taking about it but i haven't gotten anything in the mail. Rising 3rd and 4th graders.

We received letters for both kids, but they are “2023-2024 parent input form letter”. There is nothing in it suggesting that they were identified as GT eligible. We are new to MCPS.

Goes out to everyone. I just got it today so may be delayed in the mail.

Goes out to everyone who is being screened. All second graders and a lot of kids in 3rd, 5th and I think 7th. You won’t get one if your kids is already marked as GT in the system or if they are in a different grade. There is info on the AEI website.

Did this in fact happen for 2nd graders last year? read the parents' committee letter on it and it sounds like things in this area have been kind of slipshod for several years.

Do they even send these to 2nd graders?

We didn't get one for 2nd grade last year but got it in 3rd grade this year

They shouldn’t be out yet. Kids haven’t taken CogAT yet.

We got one for a 2nd grader and 7th grader.

Same.

How does MCPS use this information? My 4th grader was identified as GT towards the end of 2nd grade, but I'm not sure if my child received a different level of enrichment since then.

In my opinion, 3rd grade MAP scores determined placement in CES or compact math. The other criteria didn't seem to matter much.

They don’t use it. It’s irrelevant
