| Are the major clubs with their Super Y tryouts in January and February really using these trials to get around the ECNL tryout windows? Or are they solely for summer Super y? |
| They have to be, for mls next also. Two of our locals clubs are doing tryouts in January and February. |

Any tryout can influence coaches/clubs for future opportunities.
It's just like interviewing for a job and/or networking. |
For an 8th grader? So if my kid is interested in switching programs, should they go to Super Y trials? |
| It could be. Depends on the staff that's fielding the summer leagues. I find that it's not always the ECNL staff that's running the summer leagues. |
| If a player is exceptional, then it is a tryout for a club's top team. If the player is not, then its just a Super Y tryout. |
This. Experience with a club certainly can't hurt, but it's not a secret entrance. |
| I have heard from parents- “to get onto X team-Super Y is the way.” |
| Last year it seemed to be that way for rising U13. |
Rising u13 is the last summer where Super Y is relevant becuase they get a summer of playing 11v11 before first ECNL season. Super Y is a complete waste of time after this time period, especially if your team makes playoffs, you don't need any more games in the summer then |

How about for rising U11? Do kids go to Super Y tryouts for clubs they’re interested in possibly switching to? Or wait until spring to ask to attend a practice ahead of tryouts?
Not even sure if my kid will do Super Y but if it’s a way to get a look and feedback from another club early on in the process, maybe worth it? |
No, they are not secret ECNL tryouts. Those interested in playing for a ECNL club just need to reach out to a coach and attend a team practice. |

THIS is the only acceptable answer. A lot of ECNL players don't even participate in Super Y. |
Yes, this is the correct answer from what I've seen with my U14 ECNL DD. People just show up any month of the year. If coach likes, he finds a spot for new girl. If not, I've seen girls cry at the end of practice after the "coach talk". There is no formal tryout period for a girl to show up to random practice. I was told ECNL players can't change clubs until after May but I've also seen girls changing ECNL teams just whenever and parents say their daughter was released from one team to join another. |
