It is so disappointing when you read about a movie or show you want to watch and realize it's not on any of the multiple platforms you already have and pay for. I don't want to sign up for another service (even if it is free for 30 days) just to watch a movie. It's gotten so splintered that many of my friends haven't seen anything I have and vice versa.
Then, services you already pay for tack on additional charges for movies that are years old! You can't even go back and watch an oldie but goodie without paying another $5. Or pay extra to get rid of commercials. Etc. Wish someone would just come up with a one-stop-shop with a complete smorgasbord of all content, and then we could just choose and pay-as-you-go. The latest blockbuster movie- pay $20. One episode of an old TV show -pay nothing but have commercials. The obscure foreign film - $3. |
| Yes!!! And going to a concert is so complicated too. It's like planning for a big vacation. We ended up seeing a band in Japan because it was easier to get tickets there |
| YES! The decision fatigue is real. |

Same. The whole process is clunky. And especially when a season of something ends I forget to later tune into the new season because I've forgotten about and need to find it again, especially if it's in a platform I don't use a lot. I prefer to watch a show that's long over and binge it straight through because of that.
I pay for enough services that I'm not going to pay individually for one show or movie here and there. |
So... Cable TV? |
| Yup, the subscription services are meeting fairly regularly to basically Re-bundle as cable without the box. They don’t like how everyone can (and does) subscribe for a month to binge then drop the service. |
Re: the bold, as someone who seeks out some pretty obscure old TV series, this is the one that really irks me. Amazon says it HAS, say, season two of some 1990s show I saw season one of, on Amazon...but then the second season is eternally listed as "This program is unavailable" despite there being a big ol' "tile" for it with images etc. This applies to several shows I'd like to see, and not just on Amazon. It's immensely irksome. Or they have OLD series and those cost extra on top of my subscription fee. I pay a fee that gets new movies as part of the package but a series or movie from the '80s or '90s will cost me? There is zero logic to it. A lot of older series -- and I only mean from the late '80s-mid-2000s, not antiques -- just do not stream anywhere at all, and when they are on streaming services, they're often extra to watch. I'd gladly put up with commercials in them but nope, they're either $$ or listed but "unavailable." |

Yes, right there with you.
I wanted to watch something that only went to Apple, another to Peacock after brief theatrical releases. I have neither and both movies cost $20 to rent on Amazon Prime. The theater would have been cheaper! Also, need to remind husband to get rid of Amazon Prime as price is going up. Too many services, too expensive. |
That was old days - nowadays you can't watch everything with only cable TV. |
| Yup. What’s the opposite of cutting the cord ? I want that |
|
I can’t wait until my kids have their own accounts.
I’m canceling everything except Netflix and Hulu. |
| Yes! The worst was Paramount which had one Yellowstone on Paramount and 1923 on Paramount + (or the opposite) I could not figure out how to watch it. |
| Remember when Netflix had every movie and you could put it in your queue? Where did all those movies go? |
|
I don’t really get bothered by the current system.
I spent X amount (don’t want to look it up now) on tv and movies last year, and I’m comfortable with the number. Something like $200-$300 over a whole year. |

I would love a one-stop shop, especially when it comes to movies and old TV shows.
Serial shows are a bigger commitment, there's many I've started and quit I wouldn't want to pay for them. |
