HS interest-based (lottery) programs (Waitlisted)

Anonymous
My DS is placed on a ‘wait list’ for three of the interest-based (lottery) programs. Only these three he applied. Waitlist numbers are all above 100...

Anyone with prior experience or knowledge of how (fast) waitlisted applications go?

Did you get pulled from the Waitlist in the order you were waitlisted pretty soon after other applications are being dropped? Do we have to choose (if we want to) the program that gets off the Waitlist the first, or may we wait until all of the Waitlists are pulled and receive acceptance?
Or do they pull every Waitlisted ones all in June?

Thank you!

Wait List: If your student received a wait list number, your student’s name will remain on a wait list until the first day of June 2024.
If pulled from the wait list, your student may choose to accept another program. If accepting a different program, the seat to the first
program will be filled by another student in the wait pool/list.

I don't remember what numbers my kid had, but they were waitlisted to three of the lottery programs in 2022, and were ultimately invited to two, one in March and the other in April. We had three days to respond to the email to indicate acceptance. After three days, they'd be removed from the waitlist. (We ended up declining both.)

The thing about lotteries is that people select many of them with no intention of coming. Many get invited and don’t come. Or eventually drop out due to transportation reasons. So if you are in the top 100 in the wait pool there is a good chance you may get in.

Sort of off topic question but do they provide bus transportation to the lottery based programs?

Does anyone know how Einstein’s VAC waitlist works? We didn’t get a number, so hard to say if we have a chance of getting in. Also, does anyone know the likelihood of getting chosen from the VAC waitlist? I’ve read that for some programs there doesn’t seem to be much movement. Lastly, (we are seriously anxious over HS choices), if we accept another criteria based program by their February deadline, are we removed from VAC’s waitlist? My kid really wants VAC. Our fingers and toes will be crossed until this is all over.

All of the application programs have wait pools not wait lists and no numbers are ever given. I don’t know but would expect not a lot of movement in this pool bc it’s such a specific program (kids aren’t likely to be applying to several programs and choosing something other than VAC).

If you choose Einstein you can still take the classes.

No, VAC classes aren't available to all Einstein students.

I have a similar question. My kid was accepted to one program but waitlisted at the one that is first choice. Can we accept the invitation for the accepted program and still stay on the waitlist for the first choice?
