“Ward 3 for All.”

Including more criminals, apparently.

Well Matt did say it’s important that Ward 3 send a signal to the rest of the city that we welcome them. Message received!

Car break ins are on the rise.

Unfortunately, this is what can happen when people feel marginalized because they don't have equitable access to high opportunity pickle ball facilities.

Not every car on the block had anything visible, yet the window of each car was smashed. Seems largely destructive.

After our car was stolen - and DC government showed they absolutely did not care about these things, the lost time, or who picks up the tab - we now use our garage. it's inconvenient, but that's what we do to not be victimized over and over with stuff like this. If you do not want to use your garage in such a manner, or you do not have a garage, it's probably time to DEMAND the city get harder on crime. You may have to do stuff you don't like ideologically too--like use the city's incentive rebate program to install a camera on the front of your house and put aside qualms about "big brother". You may find yourself asking for tougher consequences for youth crime when 3 years ago you were out marching. You may start to want chronically mentally ill people who "house themselves" on the street to be involuntarily committed when a part of you is all :"but civil liberties". Or you can continue to be inconvenienced and victimized I guess.

So happy to see the announced federal surge. I returned my DNC survey and crossed out all their “top issues” and wrote “crime in DC and its close-in burbs.” Hopefully they will focus on the border towns too.
