| My AAA membership is up for renewal and I'm wondering if these services are really worth it. We didn't use it at all last year. The year before, we used it once and it was a terrible experience getting the service in a timely manner (we waited for hours). Is the membership fee less than one or two tows, etc? |
| i only see it as useful for the hotel discounts |
I had been a long time AAA member and then had the same experience. The tow driver who finally arrived let me know that AAA pays a pretty low reimbursement rate so drivers are not quick to respond to those requests. We've since dropped AAA and get roadside assistance as an add on with our car insurance (Geico). Have had to use it a couple times and got quick response. |
| I have Emergency Road Service though my auto policy that covers towing, lockout, labor for flat tires, or delivery of a loaned battery. $32 year. Have used a couple of times and totally worth it. |
| Get it through your auto policy - cheaper, and better service than AAA in most cases. |
| In my state, AAA has DMV services by appointment at their offices. We walked in and were seen right away. I just discovered this and it was amazing. |
+1 This is a huge benefit of AAA membership in my opinion. Also it is great to incur discounts on many goods + services too. And very reasonable in price for all of that too! 👍🏽 |
| I have roadside assistance through my State Farm policy. Have used it multiple times in the past few years and it was always terrific. |
| I’m sure AAA makes money on us, but they came quickly when I needed a jump, sent me a bunch of old fashioned maps and some decent guidebooks at no extra charge, and I think they’ll give me an international drivers license at no extra charge too. And there are the hotel discounts and the nationwide road service if I’m far from home. So “worth it” is relative, I guess. |
| Have used roadside assistance a couple of times for flat tires in odd places. It's not expensive and I was happy to have it |
| I used roadside assistance through my auto multiple times. It is cheap and quick in the DMV but I heard that AAA is more reliable in less populated areas. Also, my auto reduced roadside benefits recently, free tow only up to 15 miles now. Also, it wont cover a rental. So, if I was planning a cross country trip I’d probably get a AAA membership. |

My mom always buys the + as an xmas gift and I love having it.
I havent needed it often, but its definitely a life saver when I have. |

We have AAA+
there have been times when I have had to wait hours and times when someone has shown up in 30 minutes. We have purchased at least 3 new batteries from them over the years (which is super convenient) |
| It feels like a waste of money until you need it, then you’re REALLY glad you have it. |
| AAA has been worth it for me multiple times. |
