| DD5 is interested in modeling because she loves to show off in public with pretty clothing. Anyone knows where I could find more information about this like clothing model something like that in dmv area? It is DH idea, and we are not pursuing professional like becoming career, but more like exposure and interests and not skipping school for this. |
| Op here. We are not expecting making money out of it. We are thinking about it because we think she may enjoy it. It is fine if she does it for free or for good cause. Of course, she would love to get the chance to wear pretty clothing and she does not mind posing or doing some "walk" in her styles. She loves spotlight and attention. She loves to sing and dance daily. |

One thing is you never ever pay a cent to anyone representing you. They get paid if you get paid.
I don’t love the idea at all, but I have to speak up because that’s a trap people face. Don’t pay anybody. |
| Don’t do this OP. Just….don’t. |

This never goes well.

A family friend who lived in NYC got her baby some modeling gigs. Mom came from marketing background and only had her DD do very specific catalog or stock photo type shoots. It was very easy for the mom to get her DD back and forth to sets or studios. All work ceased around kindergarten per parents’ plans.
Then my local (MD) ex-SIL took her DD, then 8, to NYC to meet with some sort of sketchy child talent agency. They spent a weekend there and likely paid for head shots or photo shoots, then returned home. Crickets. Niece did exactly one modeling assignment: in dance wear for publication in a dance catalog. And that was the beginning and end of the modeling. Niece now a teen and quit dance and any interest in modeling years ago. |
| 21:47. Also, beware. Modeling and child photography attracts predators and frauds and creepy people. |
| What the heck kind of "modeling for a good cause" is there in life? |
| Not in dmv—only NYC and LA unless you find some mom and pop store. |
Very true—again there are no agencies in dmv so you shouldn’t be encountering anything like that here. If you do, they are frauds. |
That’s good it didn’t turn out worse for your ex-SIL. You have to research who the top agencies are and only go with those. They can refer you to legitimate photographers. —parent whose kids were repped by a top 3. I’m also the one who responded to the above two posts. |
| Why don't you find a small children's boutique or consignment shop and see if they want to use her for their instagram to model clothes? |
Just understand it's a predatory industry with a lot of come-ons to make you spend heaps of money so your child can pursue your dream. |
| Why not enroll her in an acting or singing class at Imagination Stage or Glen Echo Theater? |
