My son has failed the knowledge test 3 times now. In general he is not a good test taker. What did your kids do to prepare? He says he has been doing the practice tests online and passes but I don't think he has done a comprehensive read of the manual. I think this is where he needs to focus...read it over and over. |
Sounds like you are not doing the practice tests with him? Do them together. Discuss and point out ways he can remember things. |
So tell him to read it over and over. And if you're paying for him to take the test, stop. Let him pay to take it. |
Disagree. if the kid can't study for, take and pass the test without Mommy's help then he's not ready to be driving anyway. |
My kids used an app to prepare (like quizlet) - it asks a zillion questions over and over. Don't ask me the name of the app, kids are 21 and 22 now |
This OP! He’s too lazy to read a manual? Then he’s too irresponsible to drive. Tell him he can try again in six months if he gets his s together. |
+1 Take the hint. He’s not ready. Parent your child and let the law of natural consequences prevail. |
In what state? In VA I believe you have to go to a private class to pass after 3 times failing.
For others in VA, you will fail if you don’t get the signs questions (10 of them) 100% right. Study from the VA dmv practice test online site, which is the EXACT test questions they give you. Don’t use another source. Also, actually study it, if you’ve failed once or previously never studied. At least 1 hour of reading the questions, not in the car on the way to the test. |
Sorry I just read DC. |
He has to read the manual...the practice tests aren't enough. I printed out the manual for my daughter, and I think that made it easier for her to study from. Good luck! |
If after two tries he can't figure out how to study for and pass the test, I am glad he's not on the road! |
My kid failed too! He did the practice tests on the DMV website & it wasn't at all what was on the real test. The lady at the counter was super encouraging and told him to study the manual ... especially anything with numbers. |
Spoken like somebody who has never taken or had a kid take the DC knowledge test. |
Those who are saying he's not ready because he failed are just jerks who have no idea. Obviously DC transplants who moved here to do the nerd work on the Hill. Anyway, the test does not match the practice tests. Both my kids made study guides and studied them up and down. You do have to know pretty much the whole manual. And to be really sure he knows this, two words: Dutch reach. Good luck! |
You're wretched. |
