Outdoor recess this week?

Our school did not have outdoor recess yesterday. Is this common among ES in MCPS? Seems like a shame, given how nice it was yesterday.

I work at an elementary school, and we had indoor recess yesterday because there is no part of our playground not covered in snow. You may have sent your kid to school in boots and a coat, but I saw several kids in shorts. I suspect we’re inside until the rain and warmer weather later this week melts the blacktop.

This is a principal by principal decision. Not sure about yesterday, but my kids had outdoor recess last week - for the one day school was open

We’re not in MCPS but if it’s below freezing there’s no outdoor recess at my kids’ school

cold temps = indoor recess
snow and ice not melted = indoor recess

But why haven't they plowed the snow from playgrounds?

Thank you teachers for dealing with indoor-cooped-for-almost-a-week-hyper kids!

Lol right...as if central office actually ever deals with anything. More like this is what teachers and admin deal with everyday. There, I fixed it for you.

Pretty sure the plow comment was a joke..,

Regarding the temperature, it hasn't been that cold yesterday or today. What is considered cut off for cold? 10F? sub zero wind chill?

ask your school admin for their cutoff for cold

plow comment could be a joke. Or not. Why couldn't they plow playgrounds when they did the parking lots or walkways around school? Not kidding with this question.
