Purdue Discrimination Case: Professor says "whites are lazy" and "just hire Chinese students."

Anonymous
The Purdue Exponent has a report on a civil rights case scheduled to go to trial today:
https://www.purdueexponent.org/city_state/article_410ba2d8-b704-11ee-907c-ab51aced881c.html

A former Purdue nuclear engineering professor has sued Purdue, its trustees and another Purdue professor, alleging discrimination in being denied tenure. She alleges that the department head and a member of the tenure committee discriminated against her because she's white and a woman.

From the article:
Hassanein said Ishii, who was born in Tokyo, repeated the phrases “Whites are lazy” and “women are stupid” several times over the years, in front of students and other professors.

“And he used the same words ‘Whites are lazy,’ the same phrase each time?” Hassanein was asked in a deposition.

“Yes,” Hassanein replied. “He said just to hire Chinese student(s).”

Interesting that Purdue would go to trial rather than settle based on some pretty clear cut comments (imagine if they'd said that about blacks). I guess the administration agrees with the sentiment.

What about a kid that 50% white and 50% Chinese?

Purdue probably believe the courts will not take anti-white racism seriously. Maybe they are right

It might just be a matter of the price tag. If the Plaintiff is demanding $20 million and Purdue thinks it's worth $500,000 (these numbers are completely made up), then you go to trial and let a jury figure it out.

There are things white people are great at

In the 21st century, stem production at an economical level is not one of these things

Asians are way more interested, able and willing to take grad school wages to produce good work

This is why the CHIPS act will fail

Same thing happened - tsmc was not happy with the quality of the workers in arizona so wanted to bring over workers from Taiwan on expedited visas but tsmc is being held up

It also takes two to settle - the Plaintiffs may not want to cover this up with a payout and an NDA.

It's anti-woman too, though.

First, let me say I do not know the specific facts of the case other than what is stated here.
But if we are only talking a few comments that will be a tough case to get through a dispositive motion. If, however, it's more and it goes to trial, those pretty universally favor plaintiffs. Not always. But lots of people are sympathetic once they hear comments like that.

Does your wish also apply to a presumptive presidential nominee for 2024 elections?

That's both of them, though. But they can't both lose.

Are you trying to find a way to excuse blatant racism and sexism in 2024?
