Just discovered I have this .
It's been 3 mos since my month of doxy and it obv didn't fully work. Would love to hear from others who have had similar! Appt later this week with dr. |
| yes - it is quite common for doxy to still leave some residual virus. |
| I was switched to Ceftin because doxy gave me brain swelling. |
| I was told it could be 6 months or longer before symptoms might resolve. That was mostly true in my case. I still have some symptoms even though I’m testing negative for the titers, which doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me. |

6 mos of doxy? Or 6 mos overall? |
| How did they discover it was not knocked out? Blood test? |
This is the question. Which blood test? There are some that are not validated as effective in any good research but which are incredibly useful in convincing people to be swindled out of more money for no medical reason at all. |
| Both my kids have had Lyme, and my understanding is that they will always test positive on blood tests. When my DD had Lyme symptoms the second time, we just treated with antibiotics without a blood test, since it wouldn't be reliable. |
3 weeks of doxycycline. After that time, I needed two other shorter courses of antibiotics for infections that popped up. |
|
Op - on a blood test.
There are two ways they measure it and one will always be positive and one indicates an active infection. I also have symptoms of an active infection. |
What is the name of the test? If you don't know or cannot say, then nobody can answer your questions with any usefulness whatsoever. |
Why is it that that is key information? Lyme disease agm west blot. All igms and one igg abnormal |
Because IgM antibodies also persist after infection. Studies show around 20-40% of people still had positive IgM responses 1 year after treatment, even if there were no symptoms and no evidence of current infection. I hope this is true for you, OP, and that this is not a real concern for you. |
| ^^PS: IgG antibodies can persist as long as 20 years or more, of course. But there is more to the IgM story than is available in a quick Google search, too. |
