| Which has the better college town? Athens or Charlottesville? |
| Athens, a million percent |
|
UVA no question.
If you pay for UGA out of state that is just stupid |
Why? |
| I went to UVA and love Charlottesville, but I'd vote for Athens as a college town, after touring with my DS. Athens = the Corner, but 10 times bigger. |
Guess your kid doesn’t have the numbers for UVA, huh? |
Typical UVA response.

We are OOS for both. UGA is more than 30k less a year than UVA OOS.
|
Still true though |
DP- do you have anything useful to contribute? This isn't helpful. |
| Athens is by far the better college town. Academically, UVA was more prestigious 10+ years ago, but UGA has caught up and will be the clear better school in another 5-10 years if current trajectories hold. Like it or not, the SEC era has begun. |
+1 What is it with these aholes? We loved Athens. Perfect college town. |
There's someone on this board who loves to post statements like this, probably has no affiliation with UVA. Just likes to make it look bad. |

Went to UVa but from Georgia so spent a lot of time in Athens. I like them both but I actually love the smallness of The Corner at UVa - plus was smaller and more walkable. Athens is a little bigger. But CVille has the Downtown Mall area and Main Street has gotten much more lively connecting the University area to downtown. I also like the surroundings around UVa better - Blue Ridge Mountains are much prettier. Better hiking. Athens in general is flatter.
But, music scene is much better in Athens - and back then REM members would randomly be hanging out. |
Doubtful. |
