APS: is this an excused absence?

| Our street isn’t plowed, and my children’s hub bus stop isn’t walkable from our home. I’d actually like someone to know that my kids missed school because of the weather/where the bus stop is/lack of plowing. And yes, because we picked an option school. But I have a sneaking suspicion it will be marked as unexcused. |

Who cares if it's marked as unexcused?
I have entered "staying home" before and it's been excused. So maybe you could write "staying home, street not plowed" and let the cards fall where they may. But also I think the only person who will see this is the registrar of your school, who I'm guessing isn't going to care a whole lot. |

| Our street is a dead end. Only way out is uphill. Street isn’t plowed. Going to be a block of ice in the morning. If we had to drive to a bus stop, we’d be in same position as you. And I would call my kids in sick to just not have to deal with it. And I’d call transportation. |

When I was a kid we lived on a street like this. We would park our cars several streets away at the top of the hill when snowy weather was in the forecast. |

| This is OP. For the people saying to call transportation, why? I’m not saying you’re wrong. I just want to understand why. To notify them of the problem so they can plan hub stops better in the future? |

Problem solve for goodness sakes.
Call one of the other parents at your hub stop or school and see if you can carpool from a meeting point on a main road. Walk a block and then take an Uber to school. Work on getting your car to a main road and park it there before your street refreezes. Use the 2 hour delay to walk the 1.5 miles to the hub stop. You have options. |

What does your hub stop have to do with your street not being plowed? Wouldn’t every kid on your street regardless of their school be impacted? |

This. It seems like the answer that makes the least sense is to stay home...that is....unless you want to stay home. Then by all means, go ahead. Bake some muffins with your kid. |

Have you ever called APS transportation? They aren't going to give a flying fig. Their job is to run the bus routes, not problem solve for OP. They'll have their hands full getting the buses started and not losing kids with inevitable delays. |
